Your work will entail the understanding of large genetic datasets and your ability to characterize association with other variables. The work will focus on understanding the genetic basis underlying coffee consumption, sleep, together with other physical and life-style features.
As postdoc, you will principally carry out research. A certain amount of teaching may be part of your duties, up to a maximum of 20% of working hours.
To be qualified to take employment as postdoc, you must have been awarded a doctoral degree or have a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. This degree must have been awarded at the latest by the point at which LiU makes its decision to employ you.
We are looking for you with a PhD in bioinformatics and genomics.
Knowledge of biostatistical concepts and their application for analysis of large-scale genomics data is a requirement. To be successful in the role, you must have experience with computational analysis of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) based data from transcriptomics technologies such as RNA-seq, including read alignment with STAR and differential gene expression analysis with DESeq2. Proficiency in visualization and image editing, with vector graphics software such as Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator is also a requirement.
Experience with the following techniques/methods is a requirement:
Previous teaching in bioinformatics, especially within the field of NGS data analysis is meritorious. It is also meritorious if you have experience in genome-wide DNA binding studies through chromatin immunoprecipitation (ChIP-seq) assay, with particular focus on the computational analysis of such data. Experience in genome-wide chromatin accessibility studies through Assay for Transposase-Accessible Chromatin using sequencing (ATAC-seq), with particular focus on the computational analysis of such data is also seen as meritorious.
As a person, you are persistent, independent and structured. You have an excellent ability to solve complex problems and communicate effectively. Commitment, ability to cooperate, and good personal qualities are highly valued.
The position requires very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
You will work in the Division of Molecular Medicine and Virology at BKV department, an environment enrichet by talented scientists and rich of diverse scientific expertise. Your work will be coordinated by Claudio Cantù and Fredrik Iredahl , both group leaders at Linköping UNiversity and Fellows at the Wallenberg Center for Molecular Medicine.
You will work at the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV) , which is one of the university's largest departments with activities primarily within the medical faculty. Our goal is to conduct education and research in medicine and biomedicine, with high international quality. At BKV, you will find leading research with both cutting edge and breadth within a large spectrum of modern biomedicine.
This employment is a temporary contract of two years with the possibility of extension up to a total maximum of three years. The employment is full-time. Starting by agreement.
